As I began writing this blog post we took a family trip to Seattle. Our last trip as the three of us before baby number two arrives in a few short months. I brought along the book Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne, which has quickly become a new favourite. It addresses slowing your life down and simplifying your parenting. Which ended up being the perfect lesson I needed to learn on this trip. 

One of the most important things I can teach my children is to be kind to others. Kindness above all else is what I believe will make an impact in this world. Wouldn't it be great if the foundation we helped build created caring, empathetic, and kind human beings? Because that's what the world truly needs. How do we help our children grow up to be the kind generation of the future? 

We wanted to do a more modern twist on the ocean theme. Rather than having big plastic blow up sea creatures, sand, palm trees and hula skirts we kept it very modern and clean.

Mother's Day is only a few short days away and I wanted to do something special for you amazing moms.  I am so thankful for each and every one of you. You are my friends, my support and my inspiration. You are doing such a fantastic job at raising your little ones. 

Our homeschool curriculum uses many books to help teach your child the wonders of nature. A book or two on stars, a big book on bees and even a book on a little mouse and a big strawberry.

The thought of sending your little one off to their first day of school can be bittersweet. On one hand, you feel proud of them and are excited for their new adventure (and for some free time to yourself) and on the other hand, you might feel torn because your little one has grown up so fast and maybe you even fear that they aren't ready.  What we can do to prepare ourselves for this day and relieve some of the stress is to teach your child the things they need to know before that day comes so that you have peace of mind knowing your child is totally ready to start kindergarten.
