Our Mission, Vision and Values

Habitat Schoolhouse works with families across the world to provide children with wholesome education at home through hands-on learning that encourages play and exploration.

Our Values

When it comes to creating and selling our homeschooling curriculum, we have chosen to keep it secular. This decision was intentional, driven by our belief in the importance of respecting the diverse beliefs and values held by families. We understand that education is a foundational aspect of a child's development, and we aim to provide a curriculum that is inclusive and adaptable, allowing parents the freedom to incorporate their personal beliefs and impart their faith as they see fit.

By doing so, we hope to empower each family to tailor their educational journey to reflect their own values. It is crucial for us to support educational diversity and independence, and to recognize that every family should have the opportunity to foster an environment that aligns with their ideals.

Our family practices Christianity, and it forms a significant part of our lives. While our core curriculum remains secular, we are also aware of the needs of Christian families who might wish to incorporate faith-based elements into their schooling. To support this, we provide additional Christian resources and materials as optional extras for those who choose to use them. These supplementary resources are crafted to harmonize with our primary curriculum while allowing Christian families to intertwine faith-based teachings with their children's secular education.

Our aim is to offer a broad spectrum of materials that respect each family's unique preferences and foster an environment where learning and personal beliefs can coexist gracefully.

Our Mission

To empower homeschooling families by providing high-quality, nature-based educational resources & curriculum that nurture curiosity and inspire lifelong learning. As a family-run business, we are dedicated to supporting and connecting with our community, ensuring that each resource promotes discovery, creativity, and a love for the natural world.

Our Vision

To be a wholesome provider of kindness and nature-inspired educational resources that nurture family connections and deepen parent-child bonds in homeschooling. We strive to cultivate a world where learning together creates lasting memories and enriches familial relationships through the wonders of the natural environment.

Our Team, Our Family

Husband and Wife Team

My husband, Vince, and I are parents to three kind and joyful children. Our oldest is ten, our middle is nine, and our littlest one is six and a half (he makes sure everyone knows “and a half”) . We live in Vancouver, Canada and we garden, read a lot of books, hike mountains, and we love exploring the ocean.

Our story is living proof of the phrase “When you know, you know.” When my husband and I met, we knew immidiately that we were meant to be together. We thank God for bringing us together in His perfect timing. We got engaged five months into dating and married two months after that. We are truly blessed with our children, our life together, and this company that I get to pour my passion and creativity into.

I’ve worked one-on-one with homeschooling parents for many years and went to university for four years studying education. After having my daughter I wanted to help nurture her growing mind and decided to be a stay-at-home mom. Habitat Schoolhouse grew organically as I created lessons and worksheets for her and began sharing them with other stay-at-home moms.

When I first started Habitat Schoolhouse my goal was to create wholesome lessons that included nature, kindness, and genuinely sparked interest in learning. We are proud to continue with this mission as a family and continually seek expert advice on best education practices and do our best to help other parents educate their children.

Dani - Content Creation

What started with a love of the Habitat Schoolhouse preschool curriculum for my kids, turned into the best job! I started by taking photographs of the curriculum I was using, moved to writing for the Kindred Magazine, and then finally settled into the role I do now. I make membership content and help manage social media for Habitat Schoolhouse. Interacting with the customers, and seeing educational resources I’ve helped create being used in homes all over the world brings me so much joy! I live in Michigan with my husband and three kids. Our oldest son is seventeen, our middle son is ten, and our daughter is eight. We spend our time outside on our two wooded acres or playing intense games in our living room (we are all a bit competitive!). We love Jesus, quality time and adventure.

When I’m not creating content for Habitat or spending time with my family you’ll find me with my face in pages of a book reading, sitting in front of my laptop trying to process my life through writing, or behind the lens of my camera documenting my favorite subjects (my kiddos) or other families. I love stories and storytelling in all of its forms.

While my children aren’t currently home-schooled, we started our homeschool journey with Habitat Schoolhouse, and it is because of the work and the people at this company that I trust in my ability to home-educate should God ever call us back to it. I am proud to be a part of a company with a mission to create wholesome lessons that include nature, and kindness, and genuinely spark interest in learning!
