This being my first week on maternity leave I decided to spend it up north visiting my parents and sister at my childhood home. My whole life I grew up in this home and am enjoying the familiarity and nostalgia that comes with it. Hank, our little hound, came with me while Chris will be joining us Saturday. It's lovely watching the snow fall on the ground and I’m really enjoying the peace and quiet of my little home town settled in the mountains. It is quite the change from the fast paced rainy city lifestyle we lead at home in New West.Whether it be a late night soak in the hot tub under the stars and in the snow or going for a hike up the mountain, starting right from my parents backyard, this rest and rejuvenation has inspired me to spend more time writing. My blog is my happy place, somewhere I can express myself and share my life and my passions. I had often found myself daydreaming about being able to blog full time. Financially it just wasn't an option, but once on maternity leave I had ample time to start working on the blog and begin writing about things I love.

I look forward to the next few months as our lives change and I’m able to share it on the blog. It is very nerve wracking no longer having to work or having any idea when I will be going back to work. I enjoyed my job and my co-workers. It was bittersweet having to leave sooner than I was expecting to,  but I am excited for this new adventure Chris and I are embarking on.

I’m thankful for this time off and the new inspiration a visit up north brings. What a great way to spend my first week in my third trimester and my first week on maternity leave.
