Welcome to Reading Through the ABCs, an engaging and supportive phonics and literacy program designed specifically for young children. Our program builds a solid foundation in phonics, focusing on nurturing essential early literacy skills. Our Phonics Program at a Glance
Our program is structured to embrace each child’s natural curiosity and joy for learning without placing undue pressure on them to read by the end. Instead, we aim to guide them on a steady path to reading success. The Habitat Schoolhouse Phonics & Reading Curriculum includes three levels. Level One is titled: Reading through the ABCs.
Level One comprises 44 thoughtfully crafted lessons, divided into three main sections:
1. The Alphabet: Explore each letter’s unique sound and form.
2. Digraphs: Delve into combinations of letters that make specific sounds.
3. Silent E (Vowel/Consonant/E or VCE): Understand how the silent 'e' influences word pronunciation.
By focusing holistically on these areas, the program supports a comprehensive understanding of phonics that includes recognizing letter sounds and the intricate links between written letters and spoken sounds.
