Before You Begin
Children are often curious about sharks. They tend to find their unique form fascinating and never forget about their sharp teeth.

Encourage your child to think more about these mysterious creatures. Enlighten them on their authentic role in the ocean waters, discuss their anatomy, and how they take the lead in the marine food chain.

Invitation to Learn/Nature Table
Create a nature table that will allow your child to learn about sharks. Include things such as shark teeth, toy sharks, ocean themed items (shells, sand, seaweed, etc.), and a variety of themed books.

Sensory Play
If you live near the ocean, head there and explore the shore. If you don't live near the ocean you can set up a sensory bin using things such as sand, water, shells, and shark toys.

Review
Have your child enlighten you on sharks based on what they learned. Encourage them to tell you about their unique characteristics. Be sure to promote the proper use of vocabulary words. You can also get them to present what they wrote and drew in their Field Journal.
